Famous Shots From Films

The Town, 2010, and Ben Affleck

The film with one of the most famous shots that I think of right away is from The Town. A bank heist movie that turns into a romantic comedy with one of the robbers and a clerk from a bank that was robbed. The movie featured Ben Affleck, Jeremy Renner, and Rebecca Hall, all coming together to put together a classic. The scene I think of right away is from one of the 3 bank heist movies. Instead of a bank, they rob an armored truck full of money. As they are on the way to go rob the truck, they put a nun mask on as their disguise. As they are on the way there with their nun mask and holding their AK-47 to rob a truck, they see a little kid on the side of the road. The camera angle is absolutely perfect for this scene as Affleck and the kid makes eye contact at the same time. The camera angle is from our of the car following Affleck as he is in his nun mask and holding his AK straight up. And then the camera shifts to the kid as he is on the sidewalk watching someone go by knowing he is about to do something illegal with a huge gun. This scene always stood out to me because the way the camera moves throughout the scene and the important of the scene. The state of Massachusetts has seen around 200 to 300 incidents of bank crime each year, and the kid seeing the crime about to happen is crazy to think about. Maybe he will be scared forever from it, maybe he will grow up to be a bank robber, or maybe he will grow up to be something nowhere near anything with crime. This scene could be something that happens in Boston more than we think.

  1. I can only imagine how confused the kid must be seeing a nun rob a truck. Probably why they went with that disguise.
