Jordan Peele’s Get Out
Jordan Peele's, Get Out, is one of my favorite films and has the viewer on the edge of the seat though out the whole movie. Jordan Peele is one of the best directors in the movie scene right now and he makes movies different that everyone else, his own spin on things. The film follows Chris Washington who is a young African American man as he visits the family estate of his white girlfriend, Rose. There is so much happening throughout the film that suggests the ending but Chris slowly figures out what is happening throughout the plot. As he spends time with Rose's weird family and their suspenseful friends, Chris begins to uncover disturbing secrets that reveal a sinister and mind shaping conspiracy. Chris's friend, Rod, tried to warn him about go to the whites parents house and it did not sop Chris. Chris went and the mom hypnotized him on night 1 to stop smoking cigarettes around his daughter but that was only the start. All the family's friends comes over and they sell Chris's body to anyone that wants him or to go inside his body. They capture Chris at the end but he escapes and Rod comes to save him.
Lets take a deep dive into the characters:
Rose: Jordan Peele had the perfect role for the antagonist here and Rose was amazing in this movie. The first scene that stands out to me is the scene on the side of the road. Rose stands up for Chris when the police officer starts to ask for drivers license even when he was not driving. She was making sure that officer did not know his name because he would end up missing. The other scene was the missing key scene at the end of the movie when Chris figures out what is going on. Rose is acting so good and acts like she has no idea what is going on. She can't find the keys when Chris asks for them and the whole entire family is downstairs about to capture him. She is crying and making it seem like she is trying to find them and finally finds them after he is captured. The best character in this movie.
Dean Armitage (Dad): The man with the plan that make sure everything is going perfectly. He acts like the normal and typical dad that meets the son where he asks bad questions which makes him uncomfortable. But the dad runs everything and the action scene was good which gets the movie going.
Georgina and Walter: One of the craziest people in the movies and you do not know what is happening until the movie has 20-30 minutes left of the movie. When Chris is captured and they show the movie when the grandparents, you realize that the grandpa are in the bodies of Georgina and Walter. Georgina and Walter make it seem like they work in the house and yard but they are secretly working on this with the family. When Chris escapes and makes eye contact with Georgina, she is so surprised and knows her plan has gone wrong.
Missy Armitage (Mom): THAT TEA CUP! The character that is the most important and makes sure everything goes right to the plan. She hypnotizes Chris multiple times but the first time was crazy because Chris thought it was a dream when it wasn't. She makes it so Chris stop smokes cigarettes and he barely thinks anything of it. She starts to ask Chris about his family life and Chris cries. She gets everything going and that tea cup is so important to the family.
I'm glad you enjoyed the film!
